Twinkle (Feb. 26, 2018)

Alexander and I have been working hard since October to get him started on the violin, and we are finally seeing the fruits of our labor. On one hand, it felt like a long and arduous slog. On the other, things came together faster than I expected. He started working with a foam violin in mid-October, got a real violin in mid-November, and started using the left hand in late December. Now he can play all of the Twinkle variations, and I almost can’t believe there was a time — a mere four months ago — when he didn’t even know how to hold the instrument! Below is a video of him practicing two of the variations with piano at his most recent lesson. When we got home afterwards, he wanted to practice more!
