July 27 – August 10, 2015 (Weeks 2 & 3)
Zachary has had a much busier existence than Alexander had had at the same age, including meals out, late-night TV, and a ride on the wonderful Frisco-Wabash miniature railroad, which features lifelike miniature steam and diesel engines that travel through a lovely forest. As you can see from the photos, Alexander could not stand the train whistle, which sadly seemed to detract from his experience. He kept asking to go back to the mini train at the Transportation Museum, which is not nearly as “real” as the Frisco train.
Anyway, Zachary is still a snorty baby, and seems to have digestive discomforts that keep him awake a lot – hence the late night TV. Alexander is fascinated by Zachary, and tries to make contact, including kissing, prodding, bumping, poking, and squeezing, every chance he gets. While charming in principle (maybe?), this is unfortunately quite terrifying to those of us concerned with Zachary’s welfare! Alexander often addresses Zachary as “little fellow,” and tells him how cute he is, and how much he loves him (we’re not quite sure whether he means it). There’s no obvious jealousy yet, but Alexander seems quite wistful about his days as a baby. He keeps asking us when he’ll be a baby again, and the truth is even harder to bear for Mommy than for Alexander!
