October is Vehicle Appreciation Month
Just kidding! Every month is Vehicle Appreciation Month! But October was filled with an unusually large number of vehicle-related activities. It began with the arrival of “Red Truck” (one of Alexander’s four favorite truck books) at the end of September, and included a visit to Stay Play and Learn by the Clayton Fire Department, a visit to the Clayton Vehicle Fair, two tractor-pulled hayrides at two different installations of “Pumpkin Land,” a mini steam engine ride at the Transportation Museum, and an abundance of old cars and trains at the museum that left Alexander squealing with delight. The month was punctuated with other important activities, including touching pumpkins, discovering the moon, a first haircut, and a second Halloween. Alexander dressed up as a Chinese boy for Halloween, wearing an outfit his grandmother bought for him in China. (Note the long black braid he grew especially for Halloween!)
